Privacy Policy — Word Quest

Word Quest ("the App", "we", "us") is published by Octadev. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

• Account data (optional). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your account identifier, email, and display name. Apple private-relay email is supported. You may use the App without signing in.
• Gameplay data. Your stats (streak, wins, achievements, cosmetics, profile name) are stored locally and — when signed in — synced to our Firebase Cloud Firestore backend so you can restore progress on another device.
• Leaderboard data. If you enable the "Show me on leaderboard" toggle, your display name, avatar, level, streak, and win count are uploaded to the global leaderboard and are visible to other players. You can disable this at any time.
• Advertising identifiers. The App uses Google AdMob to serve ads. On iOS, we ask for your permission before AdMob can access your Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). If you decline, you will still see ads — they will be non-personalized.
• Diagnostic data. The App does not collect crash logs or analytics beyond what is required by Firebase Authentication and Firestore to operate.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To save and restore your game progress across devices.
• To display the global leaderboard (only if you opt in).
• To serve ads via Google AdMob (personalized or not, based on your ATT choice).
• To authenticate sign-in via Google or Apple.

3. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services. Their privacy policies apply to the data they process:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, Firestore.
• Google AdMob — advertising.
• Apple Sign-In — authentication (iOS only).

4. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time: open the leaderboard tab → tap the menu (⋮) next to your sign-in tile → "Delete account". This permanently removes your Firestore document, leaderboard entry, Firebase Auth user, and local progress on the device. The action is irreversible.

If you sign out without deleting, your local data remains on your device and your cloud data is retained so you can sign back in to restore it.

5. Children

The App is rated suitable for all ages but is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Use the App anonymously (skip sign-in).
• Disable leaderboard visibility from the leaderboard screen.
• Delete your account and all data (see Section 4).
• Withdraw your iOS advertising-tracking consent from Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
